Ubuntu Build

I toyed around with SMTC in Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) today. Altered the build settings, changed some paths to be compatible, etc. Here's the end result:

SMTC in Ubuntu

Although it's still got some issues to track down (such as not accepting input..), it is compile-able! The libraries are also usable in Mac OSX and other distros, so you may see those as a possibility.

More on this when I decide to work on it further.

  1. Nice! It's cool to see that SMTC's compatible with another operating system. Did you find those bugs in the editor? Also, I have some suggestions for revamping the editor a little(if you're interested), after using it some.

  2. Damn cool, Toasty. Keep up the good work, we need ports. :)

  3. I took a few mins to try it on my mac at work. Compiling was easy enough, but it didn't run so good. And by that I mean dreadful with no sound, no graphics, nothing but a good ol' crash. That one will come in time.

  4. @Sudtrap: I have not found out the cause of your crashes yet. Nor have I had much time to test. I'd appreciate it if you wrote out your ideas, bugs, & suggestions on the issue tracker at http://code.google.com/p/smtcleveleditor/. It makes it easy to keep track of things, gives me a list of things to do when I can, and if anyone else sees something they can add to, they can.

  5. I just tried duplicating the error, and it didn't happen this time. O_O
Okay, I'll post my suggestions for the editor on that site, as well as any bugs I can find.

  6. Toasty, I'm wondering if the maps I'm making now will be compatible with the updates you have planned for the future. If not, should I wait for a newer version to come out?

  7. As I go I've always made the levels scale up with the editor. If you somehow HAD a version of a level from even 1.0 (level versions are internally 1.3), it would still load those. If something major changes and I can't do this, I'll be sure to make a post with nice, big capital letters letting you guys know.
